4th Line Foundation hasn't added a story.

Founded in May 2023 by Rochelle Popyon and April Scott, co-founders of Black Hockey Mommies and the Panthers Ice Hockey tournament team, the 4th Line Foundation is dedicated to increasing access to ice hockey for BIPOC and underserved youth in Northern California.

Your generous donation will help:

  • Promote Inclusion: We believe in fostering a welcoming environment in a sport that has traditionally been limited in access.
  • Break Down Barriers: Many talented youth in the San Francisco Bay Area have not had the opportunity to play due to financial constraints and other obstacles.

How Your Contribution Makes an Impact:

  • Cultural Evolution: Collaborate with partners to improve locker room and spectator culture, develop inclusion policies, and boost fan engagement.
  • Access to Opportunities: Build connections with local hockey organizations to introduce BIPOC and underprivileged youth to skating and ice hockey through lessons and equipment drives.
  • Mentorship and Support: Provide educational resources and mentorship in areas like player development, coaching, college readiness, and career opportunities within the sport.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Work with existing youth sports non-profits to offer financial assistance to families in need.

Join us in our mission to create equitable access to ice hockey and empower the next generation of players!

FAQ: Understanding the Name "4th Line"

Q: What does "4th Line" mean in the context of hockey?
A: In hockey, the "fourth line" typically refers to the line composed of players who may not receive as much ice time as the first three lines. These players are often seen as role players, bringing energy, grit, and tenacity to the game. They play a crucial role in supporting their teammates and setting the tone, even if they don’t always get the recognition they deserve.

Q: Why did you choose "4th Line" as the name for the foundation?
A: We chose "4th Line" to honor the hardworking players who often go unrecognized in the sport. Our foundation aims to empower BIPOC and underserved youth who may feel overlooked in their pursuit of ice hockey. By adopting this name, we highlight our commitment to providing opportunities for these young athletes to shine, just like the often underappreciated players on the fourth line.

Q: How does the concept of the 4th line relate to your mission?
A: Our mission is to increase access to ice hockey for BIPOC and underserved youth. We believe that just as the fourth line is essential to a team's success, every young athlete deserves the chance to participate and excel in the sport, regardless of their background. We aim to provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities necessary for these players to thrive and be recognized for their skills.

Q: How can I support the 4th Line Foundation?
A: You can support our mission by making a donation, volunteering your time, or helping us spread the word about our initiatives. Every contribution helps us provide resources, equipment, and opportunities for BIPOC youth in ice hockey, ensuring that they have the chance to succeed both on and off the ice.

Q: What specific programs does the 4th Line Foundation offer?
A: We offer a variety of programs, including learn-to-skate sessions, entry-level ice hockey lessons, equipment donation drives, mentorship opportunities, and workshops focused on inclusion and skill development. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where every young athlete can thrive.

Q: Can you provide examples of how the foundation has made an impact?
A: While we are still in our early stages, we have already begun establishing partnerships with local hockey organizations to provide access to equipment and training for BIPOC youth. We are committed to sharing success stories and highlighting the achievements of young players who benefit from our programs as we grow.
