WiDS Worldwide started as a conference on the Stanford campus in 2015. It is now a non-profit and global movement with year-round programming. Our network of 700+ ambassadors brings WiDS programming to their communities and organizes 200+ regional events, reaching thousands of WiDSers worldwide. Our year-round programming includes datathons, upskilling workshops, podcasts, and our Next Gen outreach program. We are proud to have a global reach, with WiDSers in over 160 countries benefiting from our initiatives.
Together, we can build a better, safer, and more equitable future by ensuring that the immense talent of women in data science and AI, is seen, welcomed, and normalized.
We Work to Increase Women's Visibility and Participation
Women are still significantly underrepresented in the design and application of data science and AI technologies that are causing significant changes and disruptions in our societies. Their talent and potential remain mostly overlooked and undervalued.
This is a critical issue: Diverse and inclusive teams with increased representation of women are crucial to reduce biases, and improve decision-making and equity in education, healthcare, security, and the economy.
We must quickly reach a critical threshold of women’s participation. We work hard to increase awareness, lower barriers to entry, and help women thrive, so we can reach 30x30: 30% representation of women in education, innovation, and leadership by 2030.
Our Programming is by women, for all, at no cost
WiDS inspires, educates, and connects through extensive programming developed by women for all and available to everyone at no cost.
Our many upskilling workshops and 200 regional conferences inspire girls and women from all sectors, like HR consultant Sarah from Wisconsin, to explore, connect and enter the field.
Our Next Gen program helps middle and high schoolers, like Elena from east LA, explore data science and AI and meet wonderful women role models from their own communities in WiDS Data Days.
Our global multi-week Datathons immerse thousands of participants like Gomoa in a critical social-impact challenge. The events offer mentorship, workshops, and peer support in a welcoming atmosphere that fosters success and community for all levels of experience. Out of all the participants in our datathon, 80% are women and 60% are participating for the first time.
Empower WiDSers like Sarah, Elena and Gomoa
WiDS is 100% reliant on donations. Let's join forces to empower women from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in data science and AI, recognize and amplify the achievements of all women in the field, narrow the gender gap, and extend data science and AI opportunities to all.
- $1,000 can bring 5 women, like Sarah from Wisconsin, to a regional WiDS event. Enable them to discover the field of data science, network, and gain the confidence to reskill and change their lives.
Help us change the lives of 500 Sarahs by raising $100,000 in conference support.
- $5,000 covers the cost of 50 women, like Gomoa from Ghana, attending Datathons and workshops and receiving mentorship. Enable them to gain confidence in their skills and reduce barriers to entry in the field.
Help us increase the number of Datathon participants by 2,000 in 2024 by raising $200,000.
- $50,000 covers the cost of Data Days at 5 schools for 200 high schoolers like Elena. Help them gain awareness of data science careers, gain new skills and data literacy, and the confidence that they, too, belong in this field. Simultaneously, 50 female students at local community colleges will be trained to lead the workshops with the support and guidance of WiDS.
Help us double the number of high schools and students in low-income areas we reach with Data Days by raising $200,000.
Or decide your own level of contribution - all donations help, big and small.
Celebrate, remember, or honor someone special
For all donations exceeding $10,000, the local program will be named after a loved one or anyone you choose to honor. Honorees will receive a WiDS honor certificate with information about the program and its beneficiaries.
Donations made in memory of someone will be showcased on the WiDS memorial slide during events, and their story will be honored on the website.
