Americans turned their backs on us as we disappeared. Nobody marched for us, nobody protested, but today we bring our voices, our drums, our tsuru spirit to speak out against unjust mass incarceration.

Five years ago, Tsuru for Solidarity emerged in response to the violence targeting immigrant children and families. Drawing from our own histories as survivors and descendants of forced removal and mass incarceration by the U.S. government, we stepped forward with nonviolent direct action. By putting ourselves on the front lines, we ignited a powerful movement of resistance.

Today, we reaffirm our commitment to be the allies that our families and community needed during WWII. We will continue to stand at the front lines of resistance in solidarity with communities being targeted by state violence. We oppose the rise of white nationalists and federal forces preparing to target communities of color and immigrant communities, and we oppose efforts to overturn civil liberties and human rights.
