Support Rhythm Arts Alliance*

Rhythm Arts Alliance's mission is to harnesses the healing power of drum dance and song to unite and uplift underserved communities. Our work is to reweave communities that have been unraveled by social injustice, including the school-to-prison pipeline, the industrial prison complex, and institutionalized racism.

 

Our Track Record

  • We've impacted thousands of individuals through our healing arts programs
  • RAA pioneered a unique approach to teaching traditional music and dance of the Mandeng (West African) culture that is integrated with polyvagal healing techniques and trauma informed care.
  • RAA has offered our healing arts workshops to incarcerated youth for 18 years.
  • We are currently working to end the practice of juvenile incarceration.

 

Our Challenges

Within our 18 years of existence, we have been fortunate to have secured funding through government grants and private foundation giving. However, we have reached a point in the growth of our organization that has called us to take our work to the next level and to serve our community in more robust ways. This includes employing more artists and reaching even more youth. We need the additional support that our greater community can provide, and this is where you come in!

 

Our Heroes

Here are some ways that your donations** support our work.

  • Helps us employ local artists at a real living wage so they can be mentally, physically, and emotionally supported as they engage with the youth in meaningful, yet demanding ways.
  • Provides funding for youth workshops and performance opportunities, and supports our community events, including our annual Dundunba Festival
  • Supports our efforts to magnify the voices of underserved youth, exert influence in changing the systems that incarcerate them, and searching to find more effective solutions.
