Many Marin City students begin high school with limited awareness of college and career pathways. In 2025, Growth Circles partnered with the Hannah Project to launch the Extended Learning Opportunity program, connecting college visits to workshops designed to improve student goal setting, academic performance and college and career planning.
We are thrilled to expand our partnership with the Hannah Project in 2026, continuing and deepening the Extended Learning Opportunity program with new opportunities for 7th and 8th grade students. Through after-school workshops, students will explore their identity and aspirations while beginning to envision their future career paths. This foundational work will prepare them for a transformative late-summer journey to Georgia and Alabama, where they'll walk in the footsteps of civil rights heroes at historic sites and experience the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Throughout the trip, students will be chaperoned by Marin City community leaders—including alumni of the very HBCUs students will visit—who will share their personal stories and insights, bringing these institutions and their history to life.
While many of our students' families donate to Growth Circles and help in our fundraising efforts, we need your help to ensure that all students can attend at no cost beyond the minimal funds they can afford to contribute.
