Pays to California Policy Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
The California Policy Center for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities is a crucial new non-profit. The Center’s focus is to improve the lives of nearly 330,000 Californians and their families overcoming the challenges presented by Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), and to improve access to services for people with IDD.
Every individual should have the opportunity to optimize their potential. We all need “a Job, a Home, and a Friend.” Nevertheless, our programs and support for people with IDD are frequently underfunded and are often lacking in specific goals/outcomes and strategic implementation policies.
The Center is dedicated to improving the lives of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, through greater access to employment, affordable housing, community enrichment and equity in access to services.
As persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities grow older, they need and deserve our help to improve opportunities to live as independently as possible, find suitable work, and supportive housing. CPCIDD funding depends on personal, private and corporate tax-exempt donations, and philanthropic and institutional grants.
Some of our past and current work include:
- In 2021, we facilitated $1.4 billion annually for most service provider rate increases
- This year, we are working to protect these rate increases and accelerate the rate increase implementation
- We have initiated a community college employment pilot project for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) that will hopefully grown into a major resource for training, support for employers and placement for people with IDD
- We are working to build greater access to services for underserved communities
- CPCIDD is building partnerships between employers and employment service providers utilizing best practices.
CPCIDD operates under the fiscal umbrella of Community Initiatives, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Your donation is tax deductible as allowed by law.
